04/27/2015 (France) – Media reports on Monday morning, 27 April indicate that a security operation is ongoing in Nice after a man opened fire from his apartment onto Rue des Diables Bleus in the Saint Roch district. The shooting was reported at 0620hrs (0420hrs UTC) and left two people lightly wounded. Police forces have sealed off the district and have urged local residents to remain in their houses.
At this point it seems that the shooting was caused by a family feud. Additional information is awaited to determine the identity and motives of the shooter. Some reports indicate that hostages are currently being held by the gunman. Clients are advised that the ongoing security operation is likely to result in localised travel disruptions in northeastern Nice and cause restrictions to the access of the Nice Riquier train station. The security operation may also result in delays to railway traffic in the city. Personnel in the area should stay abreast of the latest related developments and abide by all directives issued by security forces.
