Government Warning Issued for Ethiopia
Severity: 3 (Moderate)
Source: U.S. Department of State
10/13/2014 (Ethiopia) – With tomorrow’s anniversary marking the failed bombing on October 13, 2013 in Addis Ababa credited to al-Shabaab, the U.S Embassy in Addis Ababa would like to remind U.S. citizens living or traveling in Ethiopia to maintain a high level of vigilance and to take appropriate steps to enhance personal security. The Embassy continues to receive new and credible information of al-Shabaabs intent and capability to attack Ethiopian and western interests in Ethiopia, including in Addis Ababa.
While there is no known specific information of an imminent attack occurring anywhere in Ethiopia, U.S. citizens are encouraged to maintain heightened personal security awareness. Be especially vigilant in areas which are potential targets for attacks such as where large numbers of people congregate, especially U.S. and western citizens, including restaurants, hotels, bars, places of worship, supermarkets, and shopping malls.
